Continuing Medical Education, CME Medical Writer

Independent Medical Education (commonly abbreviated to IME) is a fast growing sub-sector of Medical Education. Pharmaceutical companies sponsor learning programmes which inform clinicians about developments in patient care. The content is non-promotional which means therefore that as Medical Writer you create learning programmes as opposed to creating materials which promotes the benefits of a particular drug. The Pharmaceutical Company sponsors the program by giving an “arms-length”grant which means the content is not influenced by the sponsor. Instead the content is led by expert clinical faculty.

Candidate Responsibilities :

  • Contribute ideas for programme topics. This means therefore that you build up an in-depth understanding of therapy areas in order to identify unmet educational needs. You will moreover write a project proposal which  highlights, to the pharmaceutical company sponsor, what are the strategic benefits of developing the IME learning programme.
  • Engage with global faculty in order to develop your understanding of unmet clinical learning needs as well as to commission & manage content contributions towards your Medical Education content
  • Editing & Writing engaging content for live & digital events as well as eLearning and other learning tools
  • Liaising with internal agency colleagues such as project coordinators and the design studio in order to make certain your materials are delivered on time
